Tropical Foliage Plants
Use Guide

As a general guide we list the plants in these following categories:
House Plants, Patio Plants, and Landscape Plants.

“House Plants” Interior containerized

These are plants grown for interior use. Almost all are grown in greenhouses or shade houses as opposed to full sun in a field. Typical areas include; houses, offices, restaurants, hotels, and where plants are protected from the elements such as wind, cold, sun, heat, and fire.

“Patio Plants” Exterior containerized

Most plants fall into this category. These are patio plants used to beautify and decorate areas outside where people live, work, eat, shop, and relax.
Plants in this category are generally hardier than interior ones. They can well tolerate some wind, cool nights, and hot days. Being around buildings and concrete, they are afforded some protection from the elements. Most patio plants will tolerate some full sun for an hour to three hours a day, longer if they are slowly acclimated.

“Landscape Plants” Exterior inground

There are many varieties that lend themselves to landscape use. Whether for the color, shape, flowers, overall beauty of the plant, tropical foliage in southern California can add that “tropical look” in any landscape.
